Jack Wilshere put in a solid performance in the 2-0 victory over Marseille as the gooners took one step closer to qualification from the group of death. Marseille were still getting acclimatized with the Emirates when Jack Wilshere put them to the sword. He collected a beautiful pass from Sagna, ran to the box, cut inside and delivered a curling ball into the top corner. Mandada stood no chance.

It took just 13 seconds for the party to start.

Ramsey and Mertesacker had chances in the 7th and 31st minute respectively. Ramsey was brought down in the box but Ozil effort from 12 yards was dismal, the away fans were relieved. The second half began with continued dominance from Arsenal, Giroud (54’); Ozil (56’) came close.

However in the 65 minute, an intricate passing move involving Ramsey and Ozil created space for Wilshere  who dispatched it into the net.

Wonderful team goal and Jack duly recognized his team mates.

Marseille were not going to leave England without a fight, Szczesny made 2 saves in the 74 and 77 minutes while Monreal had to clear from the line. Carzola and Walcott had further chances to win the game for Arsenal but in the end, it was a good display.

SZCZESNY: the dude is turning out to be a super quality that is obsessed with keeping clean sheets. Two good saves late on. (7.5)

SAGNA: another solid performance, gave the pass for the first goal and was solid through the game (7)

MERTESACKER: another decent performance from the Big Friendly German, marshaled the defensive effectively (6.5)

KOSCIENLY: won the ball many times for the gooners was his normal hard tackling  and industrious self (7)

MONREAL: gave a very impressive performance. Its heartwarming that we have 2 quality left backs. He dealt with the threat of Jordan Ayew and even though Thavin gave him few problems, he was still inpressive (7)

FLAMINI– made tackles and interceptions with ease, covered the full backs very well and his presence on the pitch gave the other midfielders the confidence to go forward (7)

RAMSEY: would have scored early on; joined the attack very often and was part of an impressive midfield (7)

ROSICKY: great energetic performance. He dropped into central midfield a lot of times and was very impressive too (7)

WILSHERE: best performance of the season. Was very impressive. Gave a performance of energy and power and he carried his scoring boots along with him. Good to see my best player in Arsenal in good form (8.5)

OZIL: he would be remembered for the penalty miss, but I  think aside from that, he was decent. Gave a beautiful pass to Wilshere to score (6.5)

GIROUD: another committed performance from Olivier. Seemed off the pace in the second half (6.5)

SUBS: Walcott (6), Carzola (6) Arteta (N/A)

MAN OF THE MATCH: Jack Wilshere gets the accolade by some distance. A strong performance from the 21 year old. I was so impressed that I would have given him the award even without his two goals.

With Napoli losing to Dortmund, Arsenal must not lose form. Dortmund would be favourites to Marseille, that means the gooners should at least draw in Naples to ensure first place.

Europe has been a good hunting ground for Arsenal this season, 13 goals scored and conceded just 3; the belief and confidence is definitely there #lettheformcontinue #COYG
