The 2015 Copa America has started already with Chile beating Ecuador 2-0 thanks to goals from Vidal and Vargas.

As usual, Chile’s golden boy, Alexis Sanchez was at the heart of the action with his usual energetic display. Sometimes you think this dude is a human being or whether he has the same muscle cells that we have.

From an Arsenal perspective, Columbian shot stopper, David Ospina is another involved in the tournament and would be expecting players like James Rodriguez and Chelsea flop, Cuardado to bring another inspiring tournament reminiscent to the 2014 World Cup.

Both players are crucial players for their countries. Sanchez acts as an complete forward for Chile and after 87 caps and 20 goals, he would be expected to lead his nation to glory. The pressure would be even higher on him now especially that Chile are the host country.

At this point, you have to pity Alexis. More than 50 games for Arsenal where he played his heart out every time plus the long international journeys for almost irrelevant friendlies, the hectic Christmas period and a cup final just 10 days back. Worse off, pre-season starts early this year, the community shield is on August 2nd. If Chile reaches the final early in July, it means Sanchez would have played 12 months of football non stop. Even a robot would wear out.

With Wenger insisting on a four week break for him, you can expect him to miss the entire preseason and even the first few games of the season. But hey, it Sanchez, anything  is possible!

To the tournament proper, I expect Argentina to come out tops. They have the best players and after losing narrowly to Germany in the 2014 world cup, you expect them to be on top this time.

Brazil should challenge too, but Dunga has changed the team and we have a lot of new players. However he has made them defensively better. After the 7-1 bashing, why wouldn’t he?

Uruguay would make good competition, but in the absence of the banned Suarez, they would surely be short of fire power.

Looking forward to the invited nation, Jamaica. I hope they don’t get their name spelt out in every game.

In my heart, i wish Chile are evicted early so that Sanchez can rest but I know how important this tournament would be to him, so I wish him well  and hope he adds the Copa America to the FA Cup. 😉
