Mesut Ozil is one gooner we all like and what to do well. There is no player in Europe that does things he does with the ball. His football brain would easily rival the academic brain of Albert Einstein. His ability is unparalled and since the days of the legendary Dennis Bergkamp, no other player has displayed such football intelligence.

But has he really showed goiners what he is capable of? The BFG granted an interview last week, where he said the German can do so much more and I agree. We have only seen Ozil at his best in few occasions, maybe when he just arrived or the second part of last season, still, I feel he has still not reached that crescendo.

Could this be the season? Here are 5 reasons why gooner of steel is tipping him for stardom.

It might not cross our minds but this is the first pre season that Ozil has had with Arsenal. He arrived the 2013/2014 on deadline day and went straight into the team. In the 2014/ 2015 season, he and his fellow Germans were given extended leave after the World Cup. So this is the very first tour and games he has partaken in as a gooner. I am sure Steve Bould and Wenger must have been shocked to see him on the plane to Singapore…

After the injury he has in November 2014, he came back three months later and looked bigger and stronger. He started engaging in aerial duels and physical challenges that he would more or less ran from. In a recent interview, he appreciated the fact that he feels fitter and stronger. This only shows one signal, Ozil would be better!

Ozil has always and will always be a Number 10. His past two seasons with Arsenal has been characterized by an unending argument as to where he can play and function effectively. After Joachim Loew played him on the left side of attack in the World Cup, Wenger decided to experiment on that with his 4-1-4-1 formation; but it never really worked. His wonderful form last season coincided with him playing his preferred role and I don’t see Wenger going back to the days of him being a left Winger.

Great sides in the world are made up of players that understand themselves and know what each player is capable if doing. The great invincibles shared this trait. One player that could benefit from this understanding is Mesut Ozil. Watching the Barclay’s Asia Trophy, his understanding with Santi Carzola was just awesome. Ozil has described Carzola as a player who ‘sees things that some other players may not.’ Same thing applies with Ramsey, Sanchez, Giroud and other players. There is only one place for Ozil to go and that is UP!!!

There are many players that run away from responsibility while there are others that  become better players for it. Ozil seems like a player that would enjoy the responsibilty. Along side Sanchez, Carzola, Ramsey he is one of the players that you look up to when the chips are down. He has certainly looks like a young man with wise brains when he recieved the prestigious Laureus Media Prize for his charitable work.

Ozil would be expected to show what he is made of this season. He is surely one of the leaders of the side and if what we have seen last season is anything to go by, then we might just be seeing Mesut Ozil at his best.
