Arsenal have ruled out the prospect of re-signing Cesc Fabregas from Chelsea, according to reports.
Fabregas’ current deal expires at the end of the season and he would be available on a free transfer if he fails to agree fresh terms with Chelsea.
Last week, Fabregas admitted he wouldn’t be against returning to Arsenal and claimed he is still very fond of the club. ‘Arsenal will always be in my heart and I will never forget them so why not return. You never know,’ Fabregas told Marca.
‘I feel fine still. In seven months my contract ends with Chelsea.’
But according to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal chiefs have closed the door on a potential deal and are not interested in signing Fabregas. Speaking after Chelsea’s win over Derby in the Carabao Cup, Fabregas admitted he would be keen to remain at Stamford Bridge.] ‘I still believe in myself a lot and think I can add so much to this team,’ he said. ‘Let’s see what happens but I am happy here.’
