The Liverpool FC legend believes the Reds will secure three points against Arsenal at The Emirates on Saturday evening
The Gunners lost 2-0 to defending Premier League champions Manchester City at The Emirates in their season opener in Unai Emery’s first game in charge.
Arsenal suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat by bitter rivals Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge in their second outing to make an underwhelming start under the Spanish head coach.
The north London side responded in style with seven successive victories to climb up to fourth place in the Premier League table.
While only Manchester City have scored more than Arsenal’s 24 goals this season, Emery’s side will face the second-best defence in the Premier League this weekend.
The arrival of Alisson Becker in a £67m deal from AS Roma in the summer has completed Jurgen Klopp’s back four after Virgil van Dijk became their club record signing in the January transfer window.
Liverpool FC are unbeaten in 10 games in the Premier League and are keeping pace with title holders Manchester City at the top of the table.
Former Reds striker Owen believes Jurgen Klopp’s side will have joy against Arsenal on the break when the two title rivals meet at The Emirates on Saturday evening.
“Arsenal’s long winning run came to an end at Selhurst Park on Sunday and this is their first game against a “big six” club since their losses to Manchester City and Chelsea at the beginning of the season,” Owen told
“The Gunners have not led at halftime in any of their Premier League games so far this season and they will need to be at the top of their game from the off against a Liverpool side who will try and hit the hosts hard on the break.
“A big game for both clubs – Arsenal will move to within a point of the Reds with a win, but the gap will be seven if Jurgen Klopp’s side take the points. A Liverpool win for me.”
Liverpool FC were 4-1 winners against Cardiff City last weekend courtesy of goals from Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri.
The Reds have scored 20 times in the Premier League this season, which is four goals less than the north London side.
However, the Merseyside outfit have netted an incredible 17 goals in their last five clashes against the Gunners in the Premier League.
Indeed, Liverpool FC have won three and drawn three of their last six meetings with Arsenal in the English top flight.
Arsenal haven’t beaten a top-six side in the Premier League this season, while Liverpool FC were winners at Tottenham before stalemates with Chelsea FC and Manchester City
