English club Arsenal FC have informed Carl Jenkinson and his representative that he can leave the clubaccording to reports.
Jenkinson joined Arsenal in 2011 for a fee believed to be around £1m. The defender was promoted to the senior team when Bacary Sagna broke his leg back in 2011.
He didn’t make the grade and was given to West Ham United on loan for the entire season. After returning, he was sent on another loan, but this time to championship side, Birmingham City in 2016.
Arsenal has currently been undergoing a transition process under a new manager. New players have been brought in to ensure that the project being undertaken at the Emirate is smooth.
Players such as Jenkinson do not obviously have a role to play in this team that has seen quality players signed even if result have not been positive.
Allowing him to leave on a permanent basis will ease the wage bill as he is currently on £35,000 per week, until at least a quality upgrade is signed in January or next summer.
Leaving on a loan will not benefit the club as they might continue paying his huge wages.
