Unai Emery is having a near perfect season with his new employers. His winning streak has come to a halt following two consecutive draws but that should not undermine his impact and brand of football on show at the Emirates since his arrival.
To make his team sturdy, he has been identifying players to enhance his attack. One of such players is Lille’s winger Nicolas Pope.
The 23-year-old winger was last month rumoured to be on Arsenal’s radar by the Mirror.
But the Gunners are obviously not the only admirers as Sevilla, Barcelona, Everton and a host of other clubs are interested in the Ivorian player.
This attention towards the player can be attributed to his stellar performances in League One for the past two seasons.
Although, Arsenal seems to be his preferred destination when he decides to depart the Lille outfit for a new challenge.
When Asked about the rumoured interest in him, Pepe revealed: “My preference [would be] between Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich or Arsenal. “They’re all big clubs, I was not aware of these rumours, although it’s nice.”
Last season, the Ivorian bagged 13 goals in 36 appearances for the French club.
It might take a little more than the £30m speculated to convince him to leave his present employer.
However, the unpredictable nature of football do make the sport enjoyable. The player acknowledged thus: “Leave Lille at the end of the season? We do not even know what I’ll be doing tomorrow!”
