Things are going well for La Liga side Espanyol central defender Mario Hermoso this season.
The 23-year-old star has been in excellent form and as such, Mario’s been called up to the Spanish national squad by Spanish coach Luis Enrique.
Furthermore, two of Europe’s biggest sides are said to be interested in Hermoso, as per reports in Spain.
Firstly, La Liga giants Real Madrid, who sold Spaniard to Espanyol in 2017, are considering bringing the centre-half back to the Santiago Bernabeu for a cut-price of €7.5 million due to a clause in his current contract.
However, Arsenal boss Unai Emery is said to be interested in the defender too, but his side would likely need to pay upwards of €40 million to sign the Spaniard.
Real Madrid evidently hold all the cards in terms of Mario’s future. Not only do the club have the option to re-sign him for €7.5m, but they are also entitled to 50% of the sum made by Espanyol if they sell him to another side.
This season, the technically gifted centre-back has made 12 La Liga appearances and netted 2 goals.
