“I would like to continue” Spanish defender tells Unai Emery

Arsenal signed Julio Pleguezuelo see as a youngster from Barcelona to their academy in 2013, and the star has spent the last two years on loan spells to Mallorca and Gimnastic.

Having not registered a single game under Arsene Wenger, new Gunners boss Unai Emery gave the star a first team debut for the club against Blackpool in October in an EFL Cup with the hope there’s more to come.

The Spain-born defender, who will be out of contract by the end of the season with the Gunners, has confirmed he has offers from everywhere else in Europe and claims his main priority is develop himself under the new manager at Emirates Stadium.

Pleguezuelo speaks to press regarding his future at Arsenal, he said: “I’m waiting to see how everything develops.

I have to talk to my representative. My goal is to stay at Arsenal.

“I would like to continue and, if it is not here in England. I have offers in Spain, but at the moment it’s not my idea to go back.”

Lots of competition at the centre back position is keeping the Spanish youngster from starting for Emery with summer signing Sokratis Papstathopoulos, Shkodran Mustafi, Laurent Koscielny and Rob Holding currently fighting for the first team spot, and the former Barcelona man is well aware of the competition and make a good speech regarding that also.

“There is always a lot of competition, they are experienced players who have a lot of quality. I do not see them as enemies, just the opposite. For my part, what I will do is continue to give the coach reasons to select me and when he does, be prepared,” the centre-half said.
