The Gunners midfielder was involved in Switzerland’s crucial 5-2 UEFA Nations League win over Belgium on Sunday
Granit Xhaka has come in for some stick since his move to English shores back in 2016.
The Swiss midfielder signed for Arsenal for an eye-watering fee of £30 million from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Shortly after though Gunners fans thought they had picked up a bargain, thanks largely to his performances for his country at Euro 2016.
Fast forward two years though and it’s not quite panned out as they’d originally hoped.
Whilst Xhaka has often held down a first-team place for the North London side, opinion over the 26-year-old remains split.
Football fans often draw negative comparisons of Xhaka with Chelsea midfielder and World Cup winner N’golo Kante , who moved for a similar fee in the same summer.
The tough-tackling star was part of the Switzerland side that beat Belgium 5-2 in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday.
With 38 minutes on the clock, the scores were level at 2-2, and Xhaka had so far managed to avoid any form of punishment.
But sure enough, after a tackle on Eden Hazard that was deemed illegal by referee Daniele Orsato,
Xhaka was shown a yellow card.
Fans watching the match immediately took to Twitter to remark their lack of surprise that Xhaka had picked up another booking.
