Arsenal defender Rob Holding has been left overwhelmed with messages of support from his teammates and supporters following an injury setback.

The 23-year-old was substituted in the first-half of the 2-2 draw against Manchester United on Wednesday night and there are fears that he could be out for the rest of the season with cruciate ligament damage.

Should that be the case, Holding will be facing up to nine months on the sidelines and head coach Unai Emery has admitted that the first news to come back on the defender is ‘not good’.

Speaking during his press conference at London Colney on Thursday, the Spaniard said: “We are waiting.

“The club can give us communication about this. The best news for me is [being] calm, but the doctors are looking at him and they are going to communicate with us.
“At the moment, the first news is not good.”

This injury comes at a horrible time for Holding as he was beginning to establish himself as a regular, having started the last nine Premier League games in succession.

His setback has hit the Gunners squad, staff members and supporters hard with many – including the likes of Danny Welbeck and Sead Kolasinac – taking to social media and wishing the centre-back well in his recovery.
