Unai Emery is targeting three new signings for Arsenal in the January transfer window, according to reports. The Gunners are mounting a challenge for a top-four place this season although they suffered a major setback on Saturday after being hammered 5-1 by Liverpool at Anfield.
Emery has already raised doubts over Arsenal’s ability to strengthen in the upcoming window but revealed the club’s hierarchy are working on potential deals.
And according to the Sunday Times, Emery and Arsenal are in the market for a new central defender, a midfielder and a winger. The report also claims that Lille’s right winger Nicolas Pepe is one player on Arsenal’s shortlist.
But the Ivory Coast international, who has scored 12 goals in Ligue 1 this season, is adamant that he will not leave in January.
Asked if he is staying with Lille until the end of the season, Pepe told La Voix du Nord: ‘For me, that’s for sure ‘As the [Lille] president said, I have decided to finish the season with Lille and that’s the end of it, nothing will be done. I am under contract until 2022.’
Emery also faces the prospect of losing Aaron Ramsey next month. The 28-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and the January window represents Arsenal’s last opportunity to receive a transfer fee for the midfielder.
