Aaron Ramsey has signed a pre-contract agreement with Juventus and will leave Arsenal on a free transfer in the summer.

The Wales international, who signed for Arsenal over 10 years ago and scored two FA Cup final winning goals, is in the final 12 months of his current deal and was free to speak to European clubs as of Tuesday.

Ramsey had been close to agreeing a new deal with Arsenal as recently as October, only for the north London club to withdraw their offer on the advice of head coach Unai Emery.

A number of Europe’s leading clubs, including the likes of PSG, Milan and Bayern Munich, had registered an interest in the 27-year-old but it is the Italian champions who have won the race to sign the versatile midfielder.

According to Sportmediaset Ramsey has agreed a deal, worth a reported £5.84million-a-year, and an official announcement will be made imminently.

Ramsey is set to earn a €500k bonus should he play 50% of games per season, a €1m bonuses should he play 70% and will become the club’s second highest earner behind Cristiano Ronaldo.

Juventus had explored the possibility of bringing forward Ramsey’s move but Arsenal would rather keep the player until the end of the season, even if it means failing to earn a fee for a player worth around £50m in the current market.

Ramsey scored shortly after coming on as a substitute in the New Year’s Day win over Fulham and is in contention to feature as Arsenal start their FA Cup campaign at Blackpool this weekend.

‘I want his focus every day with us on training and thinking for the next match, which is against Blackpool,’ said Unai Emery in his pre-match press conference.

‘I am looking at him and he’s very concentrated with us now.

‘On Tuesday, he scored when he played 15 minutes, and he gave a good performance. I want that from him, and also he needs to [look] at his future.

‘But I want him in the present with us. At the end of the season is the moment he can go to one team or another team.’
